Faster Internet for Alaska?

Rumor has it that GCI is talking about a significant speed increase in their cable modem products. The word is that speeds as high as 10Mb/s down with 1Mb/s up are scheduled to hit sometime soon. I assume that this means GCI is again pioneering the new cable modem standards as they have done in the past. Comcast recently announced their plans at CES 2008 to make 100Gb/s internet access via their cable network using DOCSIS 3.0. Knowing GCI, they’ve already got DOCSIS 3.0 in place and are just waiting to pull the trigger.
We’re all waiting GCI… don’t disappoint us.
